When the producers of 2018’s blockbuster comedy Game Night needed aerial footage of a climactic scene in downtown Atlanta, they turned to Phoenix Air Unmanned (PAU). So did Empire District Electric, who tapped PAU to gauge vegetation and survey electrical line clearances using a LiDAR-equipped aircraft. With an impressive payload capacity of up to 15 pounds, PAU specializes in getting unique viewpoints for diverse clients, including visual inspections, utility projects, and thermal imaging. But it was operating Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), allowing PAU’s aircraft to go on longer missions—that was a critical piece to the company’s continued success and growth. AlarisPro helped PAU compile the comprehensive data it needed for certification, while empowering them to easily and proactively meet the needs of their growing customer base. “Alaris Pro is instrumental in helping us forecast our needs,” says William Lovett, Managing Director of PAU’s Unmanned Systems.
“We have a lot of demands from our customers and from regulators—with AlarisPro, all of that information and data is at the touch of a button. The data we gained using AlarisPro was absolutely a component in helping us achieve BVLOS.”
